Thousand Oaks is a U.S. city located in Ventura County, California and forms one of the most populated areas of a region known as Conejo Valley. Named after the prevalence of oak trees in the area, Thousand Oaks was once occupied by the Chumash Indians and is now home to approximately 130,000 people and expands over an area of 55.2 square miles with less than 1% of water. The median home price is around $673,000 and is one of the most desirable places to live, featuring a year-round Mediterranean climate with warm summers and rainy winters and an elevation ranging from 500 to 900 feet.

Housing prices have risen in part due to Thousand Oaks slow growth mindset, boasting 15,000 acres under preservation as open space. The city’s employment sector is composed of a range of business types, including automotive, electronics, healthcare, telecommunications, finance, and biotechnology.
